From Crisis to Triumph: How Patrick's Kids Foundation Changed My Path

My name is Elson MAURON CAVALIER,  a senior at the University of Public Du Sud, Aux Cayes, Haiti. Before embarking on my university journey, I faced what seemed like an insurmountable financial hurdle. However, my unwavering passion for education, particularly in the field of administrative sciences, propelled me to enroll at UPSAC in November 2021. I initially anticipated a smooth path, but soon discovered that higher education demands sacrifice and resilience. Despite the challenges, I completed my first year with determination and perseverance.

As I entered my second year, a significant financial crisis threatened to halt my academic journey. However, through what I can only describe as divine intervention, Patrick's Kids Foundation (PKF) stepped in. Their support not only saved my dream from being shattered but also transformed it into a powerful new chapter. With their backing, I was able to enter a demanding bachelor's program that tested me both academically and personally, requiring discipline and perseverance through subjects such as finance, law, and marketing.

Thanks to great effort and unwavering resolve, I excelled. I built strong connections with peers and mentors, which enriched my understanding of the professional world. My success in that second year was more than academic—it was a life milestone that proved I could rise above any obstacle.

PKF played a pivotal role in this transformation. Their belief in me and their investment in my education not only gave me the confidence to continue but also expanded my vision for the future. I am filled with profound gratitude for their unwavering commitment to advancing the education of Haitian youth. Looking back, I am amazed at how far I've come and how deeply I've grown. Now, I am committed to paying forward their generosity and helping others find their path, just as PKF helped me find mine.
